About Us

e³ Services was created in 2008 in response to a growing demand to assure that home and business environments are energy efficient and environmentally healthy.  This demand has largely been fueled by the volatility of energy prices over the past few years.  Electric rates are expected to rise from 10-20% over the next couple years.  Energy efficiency is more important than ever to help buffer against these rises in energy prices.  

e³ Services is led by founder and CEO Tom Higgins, M.S.  Tom earned his B.S. in Psychobiology from Union College, and his M.S. in Neurobiology from UNC-Chapel Hill. With training in sustainability, green living, and environmental toxicology, and extensive involvement with Clean Energy Durham, and other community agencies, Tom is uniquely suited to assess your home or business.  Tom is in the process of completing training for LEED certification, the gold-standard of environmental efficiency.

Background

Tom has a deep interest in the environment dating back to his childhood, when he learned how to estimate the temperature by counting cricket chirps!

Tom's interest in energy efficiency comes from a deep desire to help people take charge over their energy use.  He believes that efficiency is quickest and cheapest way to reduce energy use and cost, while helping to reduce environmental impact from use of fossil fuel-based energy production.
